  • Changing from Storage Heating to Electric Radiators - a Guide

Moving from Storage Heating - A Guide

    Coming Off Economy 7

When you move from older storage heating to direct acting heating, your Economy 7 tariff will no longer be as useful to you, as the beneficial cheaper part rate will no longer be used to your advantage with charging overnight.
Many customers find that by changing their tariff to a standard single rate, they can save money on most of their electrical appliances in their home, as they will no longer be run on the most expensive tariff during the day.

    Moving is simple

Contact your current supplier and ask to change from Economy 7 to a regular 24 hour rate.
With modern electricity meters this can be done remotely and for older meters you may require a visit or to have your electric meter swapped over to a more advanced single unit.
Using a comparison website to find the most competitive standard tariff available to you if then the next logical option for keeping savings going.

    Choosing replacements

Going with an established brand is a safe bet when deciding on a new heating set up, and there is surprising variety in between ranges from bigger names, such as Electrorad.
Choose a variety with features to suit you, such as wifi control if you are often away from the property, or adaptive start if you are a creature of habit but don’t want to change the temperature often, preferring to leave it alone.
Some of the newer features come as standard on LOT20 compliant heaters, so make sure your choice is up to current regulation standard in this regard.
Looks can play a part if you want to go for a more traditional oil filled unit like the Digiline radiators, or if you’d like something more contemporary the Vanguard or Smart panel may suit. German heating is a standout for warranty, and nothing beats the Aeroflow electric radiators in this regard.
